Public Speaking Coaching for Education
Are your students dedicated to advancing in their fields of study, but you recognize the need to better prepare them in the critical professional skill of clear communication, essential for their success beyond your institution?
Public speaking seminars for large groups, or workshops for smaller groups, provide students with an opportunity to gain a professional edge by developing skills frequently identified by employers as lacking in new graduates.
In the first large group seminar, students receive an interactive presentation on “Fundamentals”, covering mindset, dealing with nerves, how and when to memorize, using your voice and body, and more. In the second seminar on “Impact”, we look at methods used by performers to convey the weight and emotional impact of your message, integrating interactive demonstrations with poetry and Shakespeare.
In workshops for smaller groups, students begin by receiving the same presentations as in large group seminars, but additionally spend the majority of the session rotating through individualized coaching, usually with material they’ve prepared. They’ll work through their personal habits and inhibitors through real-time feedback and tailored exercises, while also putting into action what was learned in the earlier presentation. During this, David will facilitate constructive group feedback, with students observing and learning from each other being a key part of the process. Small group workshops also include a group warm-up, and personalized written feedback for each student.
